Insight-Dover Downs Spring Race
By Dennis Michelsen
After a break for the season's longest race it is time
to get back to the future with the car of tomorrow. Since
it has been announced that NASCAR will switch to this
design full time in 2008, teams will be ramping up their
development with even more zeal in the week's ahead. So
far Hendrick Motorsports is showing dominance not seen
since the days of Carl Kiekhafer back in the 50s. Will
they continue this streak of races won or will the numbers
start evening out in the near future? The Monster Mile
just might be the place to get that trend changing this
week! The high banks of this super-fast mile track often
bring its own grand equalizer of luck into play. Even
an accident that happens behind you gets to be in front
of you real fast. There is such little space to avoid
a wreck that someone else's mess. While the Hendrick cars
will all be ready to rock, perhaps the Monster will even
the score this week!

Racing by the Numbers
My unique Power Ratings are back and better than ever
for 2007! Combining the three most important factors the
numbers never lie. Separate the pretenders from the contenders
each week with track type, horses for courses, and consistency
factored into one easy to use Power Rating. The key numbers
to remember are 80 and 250. A rating of 80 is an acceptable
risk for any of the individual ratings and 320 is the
cut off for the complete Power Rating. Drivers topping
these minimums have a much higher percentage of top ten
finishes over the past three seasons! (Only drivers meeting
the minimum will be shown in the individual ratings with
the top 25 for Power Ratings shown)
