COT Meets Magic Mile
Fantasy Insight-New Hampshire International Speedway
By Dennis Michelsen
Teams and drivers are getting used to the Car of Tomorrow.
How can you tell? Two teams were feeling daring enough
to try to exploit the gray areas in the rules last week
at Infineon Raceway, which is a sign that Crew Chiefs
Steve Letarte and Chad Knaus understand this body style
better than the others! No one else in the garage area
would have been as confident as the Hendricks duo to mess
with the body panels. Of course now both guys are heading
towards a nice little vacation thanks to NASCAR's rulings.
But this has not been shown to slow down these two great
drivers and teams. Last week Dodge ended a winless drought
using gas mileage to grab the win at Infineon Raceway.
This week it looks like the Cup level-winning drought
of Denny Hamlin is most likely to fall. Good luck with
your Fantasy picks!

Racing by the Numbers
My unique Power Ratings are back and better than ever
for 2007! Combining the three most important factors the
numbers never lie. Separate the pretenders from the contenders
each week with track type, horses for courses, and consistency
factored into one easy to use Power Rating. The key numbers
to remember are 80 and 250. A rating of 80 is an acceptable
risk for any of the individual ratings and 250 is the
cut off for the complete Power Rating. Drivers topping
these minimums have a much higher percentage of top ten
finishes over the past three seasons! (Only drivers meeting
the minimum will be shown in the individual ratings with
the top 25 for Power Ratings shown)
