Chicago Style Pizza and Racing
Fantasy Insight-Chicagoland Speedway
By Dennis Michelsen
Chicago is known for its unique pizza. So far Chicagoland
is not known for great racing! When you build a mile and
a half track to the specifications of the IRL how can
you expect to get a great stock car track? Last year featured
the first exciting race at Chicagoland Speedway. We actually
saw some side by side racing although a solid second groove
is no guarantee at this finicky track. Will we see better
racing in the final event here with the spoiler car? Only
time will tell but the one thing that we do know is that
the strange nature of the track's handling characteristics
has made handling more important than starting position.
No driver that has started in the top five positions has
won a race here yet! If you are heading to Chicago from
out of town for this event enjoy some Lou Malnatis, Rosatis,
or Taylor Street Pizza. Chicago is known for its pizza
even if Chicagoland is not known for stock car racing
yet! Good luck with your fantasy picks!

Fantasy
Racing by the Numbers
My unique Power Ratings are back and better than
ever for 2007! Combining the three most important factors
the numbers never lie. Separate the pretenders from the
contenders each week with track type, horses for courses,
and consistency factored into one easy to use Power Rating.
The key numbers to remember are 80 and 250. A rating of
80 is an acceptable risk for any of the individual ratings
and 250 is the cut off for the complete Power Rating.
Drivers topping these minimums have a much higher percentage
of top ten finishes over the past three seasons! (Only
drivers meeting the minimum will be shown in the individual
ratings with the top 25 for Power Ratings shown)
