Yard of Bricks and the Big Kiss
Fantasy Insight-Indianapolis Motor Speedway
By Dennis Michelsen
Forget Daytona there is not a racetrack anywhere in the
world more famous than the Indianapolis Motor Speedway!
NASCAR not only belongs here but has become the marquee
event at this famed track. Although NASCAR has only raced
here thirteen times this race has more NASCAR tradition
than some tracks that have been on the circuit for years.
So many critics said that stockcars do not belong racing
at the Brickyard. But they not only belong here they are
the best show of the year! Here is a tip of the hat to
those that were willing to buck tradition to give us a
great show. Here is to racing at the famous Brickyard
and one lucky team that gets to pucker up at the end of
the day! Bring on Indy and good luck with your fantasy
picks this week.
Fast
Facts of the Week
Only two drivers Jeff Gordon (4) and Dale Jarrett (2)
have won more than once at the Brickyard in a stock car.
The
last two years and six of the thirteen years the Cup series
has raced here the winner has gone on to win the championship
for the season.
Jeff
Gordon has the most career wins, top 5s, top 10s, and
poles at Indy.
Eight
of thirteen races have been won from a top ten starting
position with three races won from outside the top twenty.

Racing by the Numbers
My unique Power Ratings are back and better than ever
for 2007! Combining the three most important factors the
numbers never lie. Separate the pretenders from the contenders
each week with track type, horses for courses, and consistency
factored into one easy to use Power Rating. The key numbers
to remember are 80 and 250. A rating of 80 is an acceptable
risk for any of the individual ratings and 250 is the
cut off for the complete Power Rating. Drivers topping
these minimums have a much higher percentage of top ten
finishes over the past three seasons! (Only drivers meeting
the minimum will be shown in the individual ratings with
the top 25 for Power Ratings shown)
