Regan
Smith Wins the Carquest Auto Parts 300
Bye Bye Busch Whackers-Lowes
By Dennis Michelsen
The home track advantage gave the Busch guys their best
performance of the year. It wasn't from a lack of Busch
Whackers because defending Cup champion Jimmie Johnson
even made the start. Twenty-six different Cup guys made
the field for the Carquest 300 and once again a Cup guy
won. But Regan Smith put on an impressive show and almost
pulled off the overall win. As the season has gone on
this talented youngster from Cato, New York is the future
of Ginn Racing. Regan has struggled in his early starts
at the Cup level but keeps getting better and better in
the Busch series. This was Regan's third time being the
"Best in Class" in the 2007 season. This fifth
place finish was the second top five of the season for
Regan Smith, the best record among non-Cup drivers this
season. He might have the best chance of any of the Busch
guys to win a race this season!
