Flippin'
Good Time in Michigan
Making the Grade-Michigan Race One
By Dennis Michelsen
Pace
Laps
That beard was getting scary, thanks for winning Carl!
Which
two-word combo gives us the worst racing
Aero and
Tight or Gas and Mileage
Lowes
Motor Speedway might be Jimmie's House, but Michigan International
is Roush Raceway!
Is
it better equipment or just a coincidence that Martin
Truex Jr is a force every week since Junior announced
he is leaving?
Sure
glad Kyle Petty didn't stick to his promise he made at
Pocono, we would miss ya Kyle!
Nextel Cup- Michigan International Raceway
1. Carl Edwards
2. Martin Truex Jr
3. Tony Stewart
4. Casey Mears
5. Dale Earnhardt Jr
6. Kyle Busch
7. Kevin Harvick
8. Jamie McMurray
9. Jeff Gordon
10. Michael Waltrip
F
for Chad Knaus's Fuel Mileage Gamble
This guy is the smartest Crew Chief in the business so
why did he gamble on gas mileage? Running out of fuel
seven laps from the end of the race is very strange for
this team! Perhaps they were betting on a caution but
when it didn't come they should have pitted before the
fuel tank ran dry!
D
for Tony Raines
What was Tony thinking when he made such an abrupt move
on the track to cause a crash? Perhaps Mister Magoo was
spotting for him on Sunday!
C
for David Reutimann
On the same day his boss actually qualified for a race
and posted a top ten, David brought his car home as the
top rookie of the race in 15th place. Both are season
bests for Michael Waltrip Racing.
B
for Martin Truex Jr
All of a sudden this guy is living up to the expectations
as a two-time Busch champ! The last three races his average
finish has been 2.0! After only posting two top five finishes
in his first fifty-seven Cup races, now Martin has posted
three in a row since Junior announced he is leaving DEI!
A
for Carl Edwards
After a disappointing race on Saturday night in the Busch
series that saw his point lead for the Championship drop
below 2000, Carl rebounded for the win on Sunday. It had
been fifty-five races since we last saw a flip at the
Cup level and Carl did it in style this week! (Both the
pass for the lead and the flip!)
Extra
Credit for Michael Waltrip
Not only did Mikey make the race on time but he finished
tenth. This team still has a ton of work to do before
they will be competitive but this was one race they can
cheer about!
