Left and Right, Up and Down
Making the Grade-Watkins Glen
By Dennis Michelsen
NASCAR better make some rule changes for qualifying soon! When you have great drivers such as Boris Said having their team bankrupted by the lack of a chance to compete something needs to be done. While I understand the reasons for having the top 35 rule in effect, it does tend to discourage NASCAR from caring about qualifying! NASCAR it is time to have Saturday morning qualifying just for the go or go home guys…they deserve that chance in these high-priced days of NASCAR racing where even going home without racing will cost you hundreds of thousands of dollars!

Nextel Cup- Glen
1. Tony Stewart
2. Denny Hamlin
3. Jimmie Johnson
4. Ron Fellows
5. Robby Gordon
6. Martin Truex Jr
7. Kyle Busch
8. Carl Edwards
9. Jeff Gordon
10. Greg Biffle

F for NASCAR Rules
Boris Said was right! There used to be qualifying on Saturday morning but now there are too many pit tours with big money sponsors to find the time! What ever happened to using rain tires at the road courses?

D for Montoya and Harvick Fight
Come on guys if you are going to fight you need to take off the helmets and HANS devices! Even hockey players get rid of the gloves and helmets when they fight! Maybe we need to see these two guys in the ring for a pay-per-view wrestling match!

C for Elliott Sadler
This is not the kind of season Sadler was expecting when he came to Evernham Motorsports. But on Sunday Sadler battled all day to finish on the lead lap in 17th position. While that is not much to get excited about it does show that Sadler has not given up!

B for Robby Gordon
The racer of racers had issues with his car that would lead mere mortal drivers to finishes in the middle of the pack at best. But Robby Gordon on a road course is a strong bet for a top five finish no matter what the obstacles!

A for Tony Stewart
Smoke showed Jeff Gordon that if you are going to have a spin do it early in the day! Tony Stewart battled back from that early spin to win for the third time in four races…an incredible streak in this day and age of parity in NASCAR! This is the kind of run that leads to championships!

Extra Credit for Patrick Carpentier
Can we see this guy full time in a NASCAR Nextel Cup car please? Carpentier can drive anything with wheels and I would love to see what he could do on the ovals, we already know he is sensational on a road course!
