Herman
the New Bud Man Would Make Sense
By Dennis Michelsen
Silly Season continues to get sillier as Furniture Row
Racing discards Kenny Wallace to try different drivers.
What an idiotic move this is since no one
I repeat
no one
gives a car a better drive than Kenny Wallace!
For years he piloted under funded cars often getting better
results than anyone else before or after him did. So with
Silly Season going full throttle out of control I toss
one more idea into the mix. Herman would make the perfect
Bud Man!
Big
Shoes to Fill
Anyone stepping into the Budweiser car next season
is doomed to fail in the eyes of the fans. Just as Richard
Petty will always be the STP MAN, Junior was the Bud Man!
But there is one driver capable of having the fan appeal
to represent the Budweiser brand and get more attention
to their product than anyone else. That man is Kenny Wallace!
Kasey Kahne or Greg Biffle might get them better results
on the track, but Kenny's legions of fans are some of
the most loyal in the sport. Get that trademark Kenny
Wallace laugh and personality involved in the commercials
and you will move lots of beer!
Kenny
the St. Louis Guy
It's been many years since Kenny spent every day in the
St. Louis area but he is still one of their own to this
day. Herman sports the St. Louis Cardinals on his dirt-modified
car that he is driving on his off days. Just imagine how
great a spokesperson he would be for the Budweiser brand
down at the grassroots of the sport. Come on Budweiser
step
up to the plate and sponsor Kenny Wallace in a Dale Earnhardt
Incorporated car next season! Herman should be the new
Bud Man!
Intangibles
Galore
Just think of the additional television time that you
get every week by sponsoring Kenny Wallace in a racecar.
His Sunday morning routine on NASCAR Raceday gives any
sponsor a lot of bang for their buck! Kenny Wallace sporting
that Budweiser shirt on national television for two hours
every week will be a hit with the fans. Add to that all
the many television and radio appearances that the Herminator
makes and you have a winning combination.
Oh
Yes He Can Drive
Throw out the recent records when he has driven for lousy
teams folks, this guy can flat out drive! Look at the
records
eight times he finished in the top ten of
the Busch series standings including a career best second
place in 1991. He won as recent as 2001 in a car that
was not as well funded as his competitors. Six top fives,
twenty-seven top tens, and three poles in Cup competition
is not a bad resume when you consider he rarely drove
for a quality team. When he punch hit for the injured
Steve Park at DEI he got results that are far better than
those of Paul Menard this season!
OK
so this is all a bunch of malarkey because at age forty-three
Kenny Wallace is over the hill to most sponsors. But passion
and performance should trump age any time! This guy can
still drive the wheels off of a car and then wow the sponsor
with his personality too. Add it all up and Kenny Wallace
is the only logical choice to carry those Budweiser colors
in 2008 and beyond!
