Brave
New Bristol
Making the Grade-Bristol Night Race
By Dennis Michelsen
There was brand new pavement and a brave new Bristol!
In the old days, circa March, if you got up off the bottom
you were going to get freight trained by half the field.
Now you can actually race up high or down low or anywhere
in between. Bristol is still Bristol but now you can actually
race as well as still put on the greatest spectacle in
auto racing!
Nextel
Cup-Bristol
1. Carl Edwards
2. Kasey Kahne
3. Clint Bowyer
4. Tony Stewart
5. Dale Earnhardt Jr
6. Kurt Busch
7. Ryan Newman
8. Bobby Labonte
9. Kyle Busch
10. Greg Biffle
F
for AJ Allmendinger
The coming almost straight to Nextel Cup theory is not
working for the stockcar career for this talented driver.
Perhaps it is time for Red Bull Racing to drop him down
to the Busch series only for 2008 to get him some much-needed
experience.
D
for Michael Waltrip
Now Mikey I realize it has been a while since you were
in a race, but once you are two laps down it is time to
give way to the leaders! NASCAR should have posted him
with the black flag after racing lap after lap holding
up the leader and causing Kasey Kahne to lose the lead.
C
for Scott Riggs
This has been a disaster of a season for Riggs and everyone
at Evernham Motorsports. But qualifying on time and racing
all night on the lead lap is an accomplishment this team
and driver can be proud of.
B
for Kasey Kahne
Was that one of Kasey's MILFS driving the No. 55 car and
getting in his way? The outcome might have been different
in the end if not for Kahne getting stuck behind a car
two laps down! Maybe Kasey needs to be more aggressive
next time and park Michael Waltrip in the fence instead!
A
for Carl Edwards
The season started rather slow for all the Roush-kateers
but the No. 99 team is turning things around for the stretch
run. Not only is Cousin Carl locked into the Chase but
don't be surprised to see this team win a couple more
times down the stretch and go into the Chase tied for
the lead!
