Jacques'd Up in the Desert
Making the Grade-Phoenix Fall Race
By Dennis Michelsen (RaceTalkRadio.com)
Another race and more hard wrecks involving Jacques Villeneuve.
There is no doubt that if this was any other up and coming
racer he would be sent back down to the lower levels to
get some seasoning. Last year NASCAR was quick to hold
up David Ragan after a rough outing at Martinsville. This
year NASCAR has given a free pass to Villeneuve and he
has done nothing to inspire confidence!
Nextel
Cup-Texas Fall
1. Jimmie Johnson
2. Greg Biffle
3. Matt Kenseth
4. Tony Stewart
5. Ryan Newman
6. Kevin Harvick
7. Martin Truex Jr
8. Kyle Busch
9. Jeff Burton
10. Jeff Gordon
F
for Jacques Villeneuve
It's official there is no reason this driver is qualified
to race in NASCAR's highest level at this time. Send him
back to the Busch and Craftsman Truck series for some
more seasoning before someone gets hurt!
D
for Gillette Evernham Motorsports
The mighty have fallen quickly! Last season Evernham's
Kasey Kahne won the most races for the season with six
victories. This year they have only one top five and only
eleven top ten finishes in 105 starts! The Car of Tomorrow
races have been the worse, which is not good news for
a 2008 turnaround.
C
for Jeff Gordon
It seems almost cruel to give Gordon an average grade
for a top ten finish. But when your teammate has the same
equipment and is kicking your butt down the stretch the
driver earns a "C" for never looking like a
champion all day.
B
for Greg Biffle
The Biff is back! Those on the NASCAR beat have been surprised
that Greg Biffle has not made the Chase for the Championship
the past two seasons. One win and three top fives during
the Chase races have shown that Greg Biffle will contend
for the title next season.
A
for Jimmie Johnson
Hendrick Motorsports has built a dynasty! Four wins in
a row and a commanding lead in the Championship Chase
for back-to-back Championships this team is on an amazing
roll that has lasted two seasons.
