Up for Thorn
Guitar Lessons-
Derek Thorn Wins Spring Clash 200
(For Immediate Release)
Nashville,
TN (April 1, 2007)- Making an impressive power move on
the outside of ASALMS veteran Charlie Menard, Derek Thorn
led the final 61 laps to win his first ASALMS Challenge
Division race in just his fourth start in the series.
This also marks the first win for Chris Purdy as a Crew
Chief and Ken Wills as owner. A jubilant Derek Thorn summed
up the feeling of winning in just one word, "Awesome!"
The 5K Motorsports team is already back to work preparing
for the Glass Breaker 200 at Toledo Speedway on April
14th. In the meantime its time for Derek to sign up for
some guitar lessons so he can play his new Copley guitar
from the Spring Clash 200!

Well Soon Gary
While the 5K Motorsports team was enjoying the win, they
missed crewman Gary Donegon at the track this weekend.
"Gary has never missed a race with us so we sure
miss him this weekend, " said team owner Ken Wills.
"This win is for you Gary!" Both 5K Motorsports
cars ran a special "Get Well Soon Gary" decal
on the side of their cars.
Derek
Thorn's Spring Classic 200
This twenty year old from Lakeport, California has
had an impressive start to his ASA Late Model Series career.
Derek raced his way out of the obscurity of the bullrings
of Northern California to lead 137 laps and finish second
at Nashville last season. This week in the Spring Clash
200 at the Music City Motorplex Derek made an impressive
outside pass for the lead and brings home the new Copley
guitar! "I knew Charlie was looking for me to pass
down low so I went outside," said Thorn. Grabbing
his first win in just his fourth career start, Derek gave
the crowd his best Elvis imitation while strumming his
new guitar in Victory Lane! Next up for Derek and his
5K Motorsports team is the Glass Breaker 200 at Toledo
Speedway on April 14th.
Derek's
Teammate Kris Stump
It was a case of being in the wrong place at the worst
time for ASALMS veteran Kris Stump this week in the Spring
Clash 200. "It was like San Antonio we just got stuck
there and then there was nowhere to go," said a dejected
Stump. Kris' 5K Motorsports team led by Crew Chief Paul
"Rollie" Christman was remarkably quick changing
radiators getting Kris Stump back in the race. "It
handled pretty good for not having a front end,"
said Stump. "We are due for some better luck."
Kris finished in 20th place in the Spring Clash 200. His
next race will be in his home state of Ohio for the Glass
Breaker 200 at Toledo Speedway on April 14th.
