Need
to Lift Curse on Kris Stump's Car
(For Immediate Release)
West
Bend, WI (April 23, 2007)- Does anyone have a chicken
gizzard you can spare? Kris Stump and his 5K Motorsport's
team need to try something new to remove the curse from
Kris' car! For the third straight race Kris Stump was
caught up in a wreck. The team encountered issues with
the engine on Stump's No. 15 car in the final practice
for the Glass Breaker 200 at Toledo Speedway and those
problems resurfaced during the race. Despite an engine
that wasn't always responsive, Kris was running in the
top ten when he got run up the racetrack and hit the wall
entering turn one. The damage was too extensive to continue
and Kris gets credited with twenty-seventh place. Kris
Stump will return to action in two weeks at the Crate
Engine 200 at Hawkeye Downs on May 12th. In the meantime
does anyone have the number for a good exorcist to remove
the curse from Kris' car?
Kris
Stump's Toledo Adventure
"Two years ago I went fourteen races without replacing
more than one part," said a dejected Kris Stump after
crashing on lap sixty-four of the Glass Breaker 200 at
Toledo Speedway last Saturday night. This talented driver
from Tipp City, OH was hoping for some better luck in
front of the home state fans. After finishing fourth in
the ASA Late Model Series Challenge Division last season,
Kris had high hopes with his new team. But a series of
problems and bad luck have cursed this team with three
disappointing finishes in a row. Look for Kris Stump to
bounce back strong as the cars and stars of the Challenge
Division invade Hawkeye Downs in Cedar Rapids, IA in two
weeks.
Kris'
Teammate Derek Thorn
The race weekend got off to a great start with Derek posting
the third fastest qualifying time despite an early draw.
The invert put Derek back to sixth place to start the
race and it was evident he had a quick car just a few
laps into the race. Thirteen cautions would slow the event
down with most of the wrecks happening well behind the
leaders. Derek Thorn showed great patience racing the
racetrack and making sure he had something left for the
final dash to the finish! With just 41 laps left to race
Derek passed leader Colt James for the top spot and lengthened
his gap over the field. But with just ten laps to go lapped
traffic slowed Derek just enough to allow Travis Dassow
to challenge for the lead. Racing side-by-side for several
laps, Derek eventually lost the battle with just five
laps remaining and settled for second place. After three
races in the ASA Late Model Series Challenge Division
Derek leads the Pat Bourdow Memorial Rookie of the Year
chase and is currently fourth in the championship standings
just 45 points behind leader Colt James.
Kris' Teammate Alex Kennedy
Next week at O'Reilly Raceway Park just outside of Indianapolis
rookie driver Alex Kennedy will make his debut for 5K
Motorsports. This fifteen year old out of Aztec, NM has
teamed up with 5K Motorsports for 2007 with Crew Chief
Paul "Rollie" Christman all season. Challenge
Division driver Derek Thorn will be along to help Alex
adjust to this new level of racing. Alex will be representing
"Dream Factory Inc" all season after being named
a National Ambassador by the organization last month.
