Kris
Stump Posts Best Finish of Season
(For Immediate Release)
West
Bend, WI (May 14, 2007)- Cancel the Voodoo Queen, having
your Mother kiss the car for good luck seems to work just
fine! Kris Stump's nightmare season of 2007 turned around
last weekend in Cedar Rapids, Iowa at Hawkeye Downs. Crashes
in the first three races were so uncharacteristic for
this talented veteran from Tipp City, Ohio that the team
made wholesale changes for last week. Gone were the blue
numbers on his No. 15 Innovation Retrokits/Tiger Light
Chevy Monte Carlo in favor of bright yellow. The car was
also switched and Kris Stump responded with a strong fourth
place finish. "I'm not much into superstitions but
something was up with that other car, "said Kris.
"That car ended my owner Ken Wills' career and I
felt things in it I never felt in any other racecar."
Now Stump's new car is ready to go at the ultra quick
Iowa Speedway for the Make-a-Wish 150 Presented by TMC
Transportation and Northland Oil. Last year Kris Stump
finished second in the first ASA Late Model Series race
at this sparkling new track and he would love to win his
first career ASA race this weekend! "I finished second
at Iowa Speedway last year and got beat by an engine,"
said Stump. "The new rules changes for the Fords
should even the playing field." This week's Make-a-Wish
150 Presented by TMC Transportation and Northland Oil
will be the "Daytona 500 of ASA Late Model Series
racing." The race will be presented in a unique three-part
format of fifty laps each and will take the green flag
at 7:30 pm Saturday night.
Looking
Ahead to Iowa Speedway
The first back-to-back races of the 2007 season are a
new challenge to the 5K Motorsports team. This high-speed
track will put a premium on preparation and performance.
5K Motorsports has been the most consistent team so far
this season and looks forward to the challenges that this
Rusty Wallace Signature track presents. Kris Stump was
runner up at this track in the first ever ASA Late Model
Series race here. "I have more speedway experience
than just about anyone else in the field," said an
excited Kris Stump. "We bring the new car this week
and I know no one works harder to get a car right than
my Crew Chief Rollie and the guys at 5K Motorsports."

Meet
Kris Stump
Veteran driver Kris Stump joins 5K Motorsports for 2007
after a successful run with Allen-Hock Motorsports. His
fifth place finish last season in the Challenge Division
standings included four top five finishes. This twenty-six
year old from Tipp City, Ohio is a threat to win at any
track big or small. The start of the season has been a
rough one for this talented ASALMS veteran. Crashes in
the first three Challenge Division races have left this
team and driver shaking their heads. Now Kris Stump comes
off a strong fourth place finish at Hawkeye Downs and
heads to Iowa Speedway where he was runner up last year.
Look for this Buckeye to win his first ASALMS race real
soon!
Meet
Kris' Teammate Derek Thorn
This twenty one year old from Lakeport, California had
an impressive start to his ASA Late Model Series career
last season posting two top five finishes in his only
two starts. Derek raced his way out of the obscurity of
the bullrings of Northern California to lead 137 laps
at Nashville last season. His runner up finish at the
season ending All American 400 weekend has put competitors
on notice that 2007 will be an exciting year for Derek
Thorn! So far this season Derek has collected a win at
Nashville, has three podium finishes in four races, leads
the Pat Bourdow Memorial Rookie of the Year Standings,
and is second in championship points.
Meet
Kris' Teammate Alex Kennedy
Aztec, New Mexico's Alex Kennedy had an adventurous 2006
season. Starting the year in Legends cars at the Las Vegas
Road Course in January, he would have never guessed that
he would end the season making his debut in the ASA Late
Model Series in Nashville. ESPN's "Outside the Lines"
show would even feature Alex during a special about young
drivers! Nicknamed the "New Mexico Rising Star"
at his home track of Sandia Motorsports Park, Alex lived
up to that moniker with more firsts last season. Alex
was named a National Ambassador for Dream Factory Inc
in the off-season. Alex kicked off his 2007 Northern Division
season by qualifying 15th at O'Reilly Raceway Park.
