Thorn Posts Another Podium Finish
(For Immediate Release)

West Bend, WI (May 14, 2007)-Just watch Derek Thorn wheel the car around the race track and you know instantly that this is not the kind of driver that is ever happy with anything but first place! But when the goal is a championship adding another third place finish in the Barron Motor Supply/Crate Motor 200 Presented by Cassill Motors is something to cheer about. "It's awesome to finish third after starting tenth, "said Thorn. "I think I could have won if I would have gotten through traffic a little quicker." The car came home in one piece, which will make the preparation for the next race this Saturday at Iowa Speedway even easier. Derek's third place finish moves him to second place in the ASA Late Model Series Championship points trailing Travis Dassow by just twenty points. Derek Thorn's lead in the Pat Bourdow Memorial Rookie of the Year race has been extended to 83 points. Next up for this talented youngster from Lakeport, California is the race drivers have had circled on their calendars since the year began. This week's Make-a-Wish 150 Presented by TMC Transportation and Northland Oil will be the "Daytona 500 of ASA Late Model Series racing." The race will be presented in a unique three-part format of fifty laps each and will take the green flag at 7:30 pm Saturday night.

Looking Ahead to Iowa Speedway
The first back-to-back races of the 2007 season are a new challenge to the 5K Motorsports team. This high-speed track will put a premium on preparation and performance. 5K Motorsports has been the most consistent team so far this season and looks forward to the challenges that this Rusty Wallace Signature track presents. Derek Thorn leads the Pat Bourdow Memorial Rookie of the Year standings and is just twenty points out of the Championship lead after four of twelve events on the ASA Late Model Series Challenge Division for 2007.

Meet Derek Thorn
This twenty one year old from Lakeport, California had an impressive start to his ASA Late Model Series career last season posting two top five finishes in his only two starts. Derek raced his way out of the obscurity of the bullrings of Northern California to lead 137 laps at Nashville last season. His runner up finish at the season ending All American 400 weekend has put competitors on notice that 2007 will be an exciting year for Derek Thorn! So far this season Derek has collected a win at Nashville, a runner up finish at Toledo, leads the Pat Bourdow Memorial Rookie of the Year Standings, and is second in championship points.

Meet Derek's Teammate Kris Stump
Veteran driver Kris Stump joins 5K Motorsports for 2007 after a successful run with Allen-Hock Motorsports. His fifth place finish last season in the Challenge Division standings included four top five finishes. This twenty-six year old from Tipp City, Ohio is a threat to win at any track big or small. The start of the season has been a rough one for this talented ASALMS veteran. Crashes in the first three Challenge Division races have left this team and driver shaking their heads. Now Kris Stump comes off a strong fourth place finish at Hawkeye Downs and heads to Iowa Speedway where he was runner up last year. Look for this Buckeye to win his first ASALMS race real soon!

Meet Derek's Teammate Alex Kennedy
Aztec, New Mexico's Alex Kennedy had an adventurous 2006 season. Starting the year in Legends cars at the Las Vegas Road Course in January, he would have never guessed that he would end the season making his debut in the ASA Late Model Series in Nashville. ESPN's "Outside the Lines" show would even feature Alex during a special about young drivers! Nicknamed the "New Mexico Rising Star" at his home track of Sandia Motorsports Park, Alex lived up to that moniker with more firsts last season. Alex was named a National Ambassador for Dream Factory Inc in the off-season. Alex kicked off his 2007 Northern Division season by qualifying 15th at O'Reilly Raceway Park.
