Thorn
Battles to Another Top Ten at Cayuga
(For Immediate Release)
West
Bend, WI (July 2, 2007)- The first trip north of the border
for Lake Port, California's Derek Thorn was full of ups
and downs. Fastest on the time sheet during most of the
practice sessions, Thorn and his 5K Motorsports team had
high hopes for race day. A poor qualifying draw would
even work in Derek's favor with his tenth place effort
being the lucky number drawn for the invert! Thorn would
set a torrid pace out front after starting on the pole
leading the first ninety-one laps. But while trying to
put Alex Carll down a lap, Thorn bumped into Carll's car
sending him spinning. After being sent to the back of
the pack for the ensuing restart Derek Thorn would lose
the handling on his Innovation Retrokits Ford. Fighting
hard all night Derek managed to salvage a tenth place
finish to keep his Pat Bourdow Rookie of the Year lead
intact. Thorn will return to action at the Motor Mile
on July 21st for the Radfest/Race Against Drugs 200 in
Radford, Virginia.
